The Jack Pine Conservation Estate is happy to extend our nature preserve to schools and organizations of all ages, free of charge. We believe in sharing our space with students and researchers for the purpose of learning with an optional donation upon departure.
Our learning space is combined between outdoor pavilions and nature itself. There are no indoor facilities for students to utilize currently so please plan accordingly with the weather.
Our main pavilion is a 900 sqft covered building with optional, power, water and outdoor cooking that can be used seasonally. The concrete patio fits 200 people comfortably with planning for seating arrangements. There are several picnic tables which are regularly used as tables during educational workshops. Washrooms are pending construction to complete a total of 4 stalls and 2 sinks inside our Office / Washroom dwelling. Until then, portable washroom units can be arranged, or use of existing outhouses are permitted.
For smaller groups, our yurts are often utilized to conduct day or weekend workshops. The 20’ yurt comfortably houses 20 people and is useable during 4 seasons. It is heated and available for an additional cost. Please learn more about it on our Yurt page here.
Field studies are conducted on land and water throughout the property. We have canoes and kayaks that can be utilized for special purposed. For a complete list od trails on the grounds, please see our map in the Resource section.
Our most popular trail is the Ridgeview Trail which is a 1.8km hike through several changing ecosystems.
Across from the main entrance is our private parking lot suitable for up to 4 school buses or a maximum of 8 if tucked in without cars. A total of approximately 40 cars can fit comfortably in our main parking lot with additional spaces for accessibility vehicles closer to the main pavilion. 4 solar tower lights are on site for early or late hours loading students.
Depending on the season, we recommend 4-wheel drive on all vehicles or chains for approaching on and off Beatty’s Curve Rd off of Hwy 7 which can be a sudden, steep slope. Many transport trucks, trailers, and heavy commercial units have used the road without issues in the past. This is just to air on the side of caution.
The Jack Pine Conservation Estate requires a waiver signed by all children, students and attendees prior to arrival. Groups are responsible for providing their own insurance, staff and materials for events unless otherwise discussed with our event coordinator. A complete list can be reviewed under our rules and regulations page in the footer.
